“Dad has CANCER.” it was those words that changed how I look at photos…and life.

I stayed on my old brown couch until the sun shined the next morning scouring all the albums & hard drives for every picture and rare video clips of my dad. A treasure hunt through family dinners, fishing, tractor rides, holding my babies, even ones with him in the background, it all transformed from casual family memories to PURE GOLD in an instant. I pilled each picture in a folder and studied them over & over to relive days that, deep down, I knew would never happen again. The photos I gripped the tightest were the ones of the regular, yet valuable, life we lived together as a family. The ones showing his adventurous, quirky personality and the quiet love he showered us with.

As a mother, I now knew taking photos of only my children was not going to be enough. I have to be in the memories because I know how significant those snapshots were of my dad. Photos & videos are the tangible proof that life is valuable, precious & oh so short.
